A Compassionate Community
Our School Site Council (SSC) has met and drafted our Site Plan for the 2017-2018 school year. This document is designed to guide and focus our school to keep us aligned with our district objectives and improve student learning at PHE. Click on the image to see an overview of our school priorities and goals. These meetings are open to the public, so feel free to join us if you'd like to learn more!
Student Learning
As we launch into the month of November, student learning at PHE is in full stride. All across our campus teachers are facilitating high levels of rigorous learning experiences for our students. Our STEAM lab is up and running sessions for students two days per week. If you would like to learn more about what happens in this makerspace, click on the picture to view a short introductory video. Remember to check out our Twitter feed (posted on our website: http://phes.mdusd.org/) for up-to-date examples of student learning at PHE!
Community Events
During the month of October, we experienced some highs and some lows. Our neighbors up in Napa and Sonoma were dealt a blow as fires wreaked devastation in their community. Our school district responded protectively by keeping our students out of the polluted air and at home for two days. In response to this difficult time, the community of Pleasant Hill pulled together to offer support for our neighbors. PHE's PTA paused the planning of Carnoween in order to provide assistance to the successful school supply drive. I am very proud of the quick response and show of compassion from our community.
