Springtime at PHE

"Behold, my friends, the spring is come; the earth has gladly received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the results of their love!" - Sitting Bull

Welcoming Trimester 3
It's hard to believe that we've already made it to the last trimester of the 2018-2019 school year.  Since we've turned our clocks ahead one hour in observance of Daylight Saving Time, our mornings have become a little darker, but our afternoons have filled with the bright California sun.  Due to the sun and warmer weather, our students have gotten to enjoy the great outdoors.  Within this last trimester of school, we will be busy squeezing in lots of learning, assessing student progress, and celebrating successes!

Student Learning
Learning here. Learning there. Learning, learning EVERYWHERE!  Books of all shapes and sizes popped open in classrooms across our school as we celebrated Read Across America!  Following our PHE tradition, wearing comfy pajamas was strongly encouraged along with reading Dr Seuss books, of course.  Outside the classrooms, students participated in a Chalk Drawing Assembly.  Over the course of a day, all grades added to our community drawing project.  Check out our Twitter feed to view some of the photos and videos!  Also during this past month, we engaged the musical side of our brains with both our choir and band holding separate evening performances at College Park High School.  Our orchestra will be the last group to showcase their talent on Monday 3/25.  Please come out and support our Pleasant Hill music groups!

Planning for the Future
In addition to current events, PHE has been planning for the future.  Our district hosted Facility Master Plan Town Halls throughout the month of February.  These important meetings provided an opportunity for our community members to offer input on the future vision of our school facility.  Connected to our school vision is the revitalization of our school garden beds.  We are slowly, but surely transforming these unused beds into outdoor learning spaces for our students.  Thanks to energized parent volunteers and donations raised during our Gala, our gardens are coming to life!  If you'd like to be a part of this effort, come join us this Saturday 3/23 for a school beautification day focused on our gardens.
